The TBLI CONFERENCE⢠ASIA 2009 is a landmark event for Japan on the topic of Sustainable Investment. This is investment that will drive progress in terms of clean tech, hi-tech, green buildings, and many other areas of interest to Green Mondays me...
Please describe your interest in Sustainability, CleanTech or Environmental issues
My utmost concern is the rapid destruction of our soil and the unsustainable increases in demands being placed upon it and the catastrophic influence this is having on our air, water and marine resources, human health and prosperity. I am involved in R&D and technology commercialization devoted to correcting these imbalances. I am interested in ways of viably financing environmentally corrective technologies globally via improved/healthier agricultural yields and resulting appreciated land/soil values..
What is your Company and occupation?
I founded a non-profit corporation, the Canadian Biochar Initiative in December, 2008 to promote the economic sequestration of biomass into charcoal while generating energy, improving agricultural yields, reducing fertilzer inputs and improving overall ecosystem health.
Does your company have a sustainability or environmental programme?
Yes
Do you work in Sustainability or CleanTech, or are you planning to do so?
Yes. In addition I partner with industry to develop and commercialize technology for the Alberta Research Council focusing on environmentally corrective and sustainable technologies.
Which individuals, companies or organisations in Japan you would particularly like to hear speak on these issues?
Japan has well developed small scale biochar production technology and has done excellent research in soil fertility enhancements. These technologies should be transferable to Canada and I would like to make contact with anyone interested in developing this business.
Please tell us who introduced you to GreenMondays or how you heard about us.
I heard about Green Mondays through a JETRO contact and I also know one of your members, Patricia Bader-Johnston..
